Commonly Asked Questions

Where can I find a coach for my team?
For assistance in finding a qualified coach, contact the VASC coaching director at coaching@veronasoccer.org. If you have located a coach on your own, have that person also contact the coaching director to find out about license requirements, risk management disclosure requirements, etc.

Do most teams pay their coaches? Why or why not?
Most recreational teams are not ready to commit to the price range of a paid coach. When teams play in the competitive leagues, however, most teams use professional, paid coaches. It is also typical that on competitive teams, parent coaches are the exception.

Coaching Resources
All coaches are required to have a license. The level of certification varies by the level of the team. For the beginning coach there is tons of coaching information out there to learn from. Whether you attend a coaching class or seminar, subscribe to a listserve or e-newsletter, or head to the nearest public library, you will find plenty of resources to get you started. If you are currently a VASC coach you should have received a Coaching Handbook when schedules were handed out. If you would like a copy the handbook may be purchased from MAYSA for $3.00. You can contact MAYSA at (608)276-9030.
