Verona Area Soccer Club
Meeting Minutes for November 11, 2001 Members Present Jeff Petersen, Mary Buckman, Herb Delahanty, Brenda Schmidt, Trish Schleicher, Scott Clement, and Brian Severson, guest. BRIAN SEVERSON Brian also reported on discussions of a multi-club administrator for alliance clubs. Currently all the clubs are doing their own administration with much duplication. Down the road, clubs could potentially share some functions through a multi-club administrator. Some common functions include web-site management, registrations, tournaments, sharing phones and equipment, etc. Managing the try-out process is the grass root for this idea. Some clubs in the area and across the country are going to a Level 1-Level 2 team status. This allows the club to form teams based on player interest, skill, and commitment to the sport. A level 2 team might consist of players who are willing to have one practice per week and do a tournament. Level one teams would be more committed, willing to do two practices per week, attend clinics, and participate in multiple tournaments. The was discussion of the advantages/disadvantages of such a structure. No action was taken. It was agreed this would have to be a MAYSA initiative. ADMINISTRATORS' REPORTS
Pelliteri Fields need attention. Each field will need a season to rest to allow repair and re-seeding in the goal mouths to be complete. MAYSA is prepared to have only one of the two fields scheduled for next Spring. Cost is approximately $300 per field. There is evidence of four-wheelers driving on the fields and doing damage. No trespassing signs are needed. During the period of re-seeding, field useage signs will also need to be posted. The board continues to review the utilization of the fields. Redden Soccer Park did not receive a grant for lighting of fields there. They are continuing to pursue other funding options to secure lighting for at least one field. The merging of the 56ers with Yahara for high school boys try-outs was not without some growing pains. The two clubs are continuing dialogues and remain optimistic that the kinks can be worked out. Newsletter articles are due to Jeff Petersen by December 1st. Mary Buckman reported that try-outs for high school boys went well. A Verona U-15 and a Verona U-16 team was formed with player acceptances complete. Organizational meetings are being scheduled to collect fees, assign managers, and finalize coaching staff. MAYSA will be publishing revised coaching licensing standards effective August of 2003. OTHER BUSINESS The representatives from Big Toe Sports will be invited to attend the January meeting to discuss uniform quality and pricing. Trish will contact Dan Nuthals. Meetings of the board will continue to be held the third Monday of each month beginning in January. Respectfully submitted, Trish Schleicher, Secretary Jeff Petersen Verona Area Soccer Club Administrator (608) 848-7616 - VASC Phone/FAX line | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
