DATE: April 20, 2001 Members Present: Jon Sutcliffe, Herb Delahanty, Brenda Schmidt, Trish Schleicher, Jeff Petersen, Mary Buckman, Scott Clement, Paul Anjeski, and Brian Severson. YOUTH NIGHT: Scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st at Verona High School. Games are at 5:00 and 7:00PM. Additonal help is still needed. Everything else has been taken care of. The club is covering the concession stands. 5 V5 TOURNAMENTS: We have 35-37 teams registered for the tournament set for April 28th. There aren't any adult teams. Volunteers are needed to man the VASC table and post scores. Paul Anjeski: Referees and coaches must understand the Box Rule: no player other than the goalkeeper is permitted in the box. There are no pass-thrus allowed - offensively or defensively. Additional Girls teams at U-11 through U-14 levels would be allowed. ADMINISTRATOR's REPORT: The fields have been opened and lined. Goals are anchored and new nets installed. Jon Sutcliffe has met with the electric company to determine prices and regulations regarding installation of electrical power. Costs would run between $880-1000. Board expressed concern over appropriate utilization of these fields. Insurance and liability issues would need to be addressed. Teams interested in volunteer service are invited to bring garbage bags and pick up litter on and around the fields. A club budget will be prepared. All club goals, including those on loan to the Verona Recreation Department, need to be returned. Goals will be distributed to U-8 teams to use in their games. The board was concerned about team retention and servicing from the club. There was discussion about how to facilitate providing both goals and lined fields to younger teams. There was also discussion about how to coordinate programs with Verona Rec, how Verona and Fitchburg Rec programs might work together for beginning players, and/or how VASC might coordinate its programs with those of the rec department(s). TEAM REGISTRATION NIGHT or fall teams is scheduled for May 23rd from 6:45-8:45PM in the Verona Public Library basement. Uniforms will be available for sizing purposes and camp brochures will be available. Fliers and media releases have or will be sent out. UNIFORMS: Scott Clement is securing final uniform prices. Teams needing new uniforms should contact him no later than May 1st. This includes teams who need to replace their existing uniforms. VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: VASC needs to secure an individual for the position of volunteer coordinator to manage and direct volunteer efforts for tournaments, varsity games, and other special event needs. This is a club priority. VACANT BOARD POSITIONS: We need you!!!!! We continue to recruit for the board positions of vice president, treasurer, and volunteer coordinator. With terms beginning immediately, recommendations are welcome. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The foot skills clinic
offered this spring was well received and plans to conduct additional
sessions are under way. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00PM at Breakaway
Sports Center. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 21st
