Meeting Minutes: Verona Area Soccer Club Date: Monday, July 16,
2001 1. ADMINISTRATORS REPORT: MAYSA has notified us that the start date for the season is August 25th. Schedules will be distributed to clubs on August 15, and the club will schedule a meeting as soon as possible thereafter to distribute schedules to VASC teams. Jeff Petersen reported that Bill Loss from MAYSA is willing to consider a reasonable storage arrangement for the club's trailer and equipment at Redden Fields. Cleary's was contacted about either providing storage space or contributing toward construction of a small storage building. The cannot help. The Verona Area Soccer Club Soccer Kickoff fundraiser dance will be at Wildcat Lanes in Verona on September 8th. Tickets will be distributed to each club at the Managers meeting. Laurie Jennings and Terri Gust expressed interest in serving on the board but sharing a single position as Volunteer Coordinators. The board was comfortable with this arrangement and they will be invited to attend the next meeting. 2. Managers Meeting: A special meeting will be scheduled to obtain coaches and club members feedback on the Alliance Try-out process. The goal will be to establish a more firm club policy on try-outs and to provide feedback on improvements to the process to the Alliance. 3. Verona Recreation Department: Herb Delehanty will work with the Rec Dept. to determine what options should be pursued in offering workshops, including a coaches workshop, a session on rules of the game, a session for just players, and/or a session for kids and coaches. The board felt that the most appropriate session for us to conduct would be one for the coaches. Herb will also request the return of the VASC small-sided goals from the Rec. Dept. 4. Club Fields: The club continues to have an interest in increased field utilization and will address this issue at a later date. The weeds are out of control currently on the hills off the fields. 5. Uniforms: Currently 29 teams have registered with the club. Some new uniform-related items will be on display at the managers meeting, including the warm-up, the back pack, and the duffle bag. The board was interested in potentially providing each club team with a game ball (or several balls). We need to see if someone would be willing to donate approximately 60-90 balls or would give the club a good deal for a volume purchase of balls. 6. Newsletter: The club newsletter deadline is August 7th with mailing to follow. Board members should e-mail articles to Jeff Petersen. 7. The next meeting is scheduled for August 20th at the Verona Public Library.
