Board Meeting Minutes: Verona Area Soccer Club Date: Monday, August 20, 2001
7:00PM
Place: Verona Public Library
Next Meeting: Monday, September 17, 2001 at 7:00PM at the Library

Present: Mary Buckman, Scott Clement, Herb Delehanty, Jeff Petersen, Brenda Schmidt

1. ADMINISTRATORS REPORT: Jeff reported that the club fields on Hwy G are marked and ready for play. It was suggested that a subcommittee of the board be constituted to look at the costs and use of the fields and whether there are any opportunities to generate rental income to defray costs. Volunteer Coordinator, Vice President, and Treasurer positions are still open and the club needs to continue to work to fill the positions (Jim Kramer has subsequently agreed to take the Treasurer position). Discussed the need to more regularly review the contents of the club website to make sure the information is current. Jeff said he would contact Sara Landolt about updating the teams list on the site. Tryouts for high school boys will need to be organized in the fall - to be scheduled after the high school season ends.

2. FINANCIAL REPORT AND PROJECTIONS: Jeff presented two reports; one summarizing financial activity for 2000-2001 and one which projects revenues and costs for 2001-2002. Based on the projected balance, it was deemed to be appropriate to consider having the club buy one game ball for each team (board agreed to do this) and to consider sponsoring additional footskills clinics during winter with a partial club subsidy of costs.

3. STORAGE: Jeff reported that he had met with the director of the Reddan Soccer Park and there is general agreement that VASC could erect a small storage shed on the property adjacent to the existing storage building. Storage is needed for the club's trailer, lining equipment, tents, goals, etc. We have had discussions with Tim Sweeney and Bob Blasdel about helping to erect a building. Sweeney is looking into the question of whether we will need permits, etc. if this is a stand-alone storage unit. We hope to have something in place during the fall.

4. UNIFORMS: Scott reported that as a result of a snafu with the screenprinter accessing the club logo, the delivery of uniforms had been delayed a bit. The current plan is that all uniforms will be screenprinted on Thursday (8/23), and Stefan's will drive them to Scott's home. Teams will need to pick their merchandise up there on Friday. A crunch, but in time for the first day of league play on Saturday. Scott asked Jeff to email all teams about pick-up arrangements.

5. KICKOFF DANCE - SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH: Tickets have been distributed to all teams. We need to solicit door prizes from local businesses. We will also be attempting to get businesses or individuals to sponsor portable goals. For a donation of $150-$250, they will get a banner on one of the goals used during the 5 V 5 tournament. TEAMS: SELL TICKETS!!!!!

Respectfully submitted, Jeff Petersen, VASC Administrator
