Present: Mary Buckman, Brenda Schmidt, Jeff Petersen, Dan Nuthals, Scott Clement, Mary Mattison, Jim Kramer, Darrel Duerst (guest) Uniform Update: Darrel Duerst from Big Toe Sports presented the draft order forms for uniforms and optional items players may want to order. Individual order forms will be provided for parents through their team manager. Managers will be responsible for turning in complete team orders. Again there are two uniforms to choose from. The Copa uniform with the white collar is again available. The other uniform without the collar has been discontinued by Adidas and is being replaced by a similar uniform. Tax is not included as long as checks are written out to VASC. There will be a sizing clinic at the Verona Public Library on Monday, July 8, from 6:30-8:00p.m. Those that cannot make it to the sizing clinic can stop by the Big Toe facilities located near Badger Bowl. Uniforms ordered on July 8th should be available by August 8th. Coaches for 2002-2003: There is still a need for coaches for U11 and U12 classic teams. Registration Information: Classic teams should already have their registration information into Jeff Petersen. It was due June 24th. Recreational teams registration is due July 1st. Currently it looks as if the VASC will have 30-40 teams. Administrators Report: Financial - MAYSA still owes VASC for the 5v5 tournament. The club will be able to add about $3,500 to it's Reserve Fund from it's share of the tournament proceeds. Jeff provided an expected cash balance to the Board, and financial detail to the Club Treasurer. Fields - The premier field that was used this past season will be rested and repaired during the 2002-2003 season. Expenditures - A motion was passed to donate $1,000 to Reddan to be used toward the purchase of a new lawn mower to replace the one that broke. Reddan is the club's main home field so it was thought that VASC should help with this expense. The cost of a new mower is about $4,000. A plaque will be purchased and presented to Carl Miller of Miller and Sons to acknowledge his many generous contributions and support to the Club and to individual VASC teams. Scholarships - Two scholarships for fees for the 2002-2003 VASC and MAYSA fees were requested and approved. Camps - Numbers were down for the soccer camp held in June. There is one more camp sponsored by VASC coming up July 29 - August 2. State and ClassicTryouts: Mary Buckman reported that there will be a debriefing meeting with Alliance members to discuss any problems/concerns/positives of the Alliance tryout process. There were some problems with a separate database being used for those trying out for the 56ers and getting this information back to the Alliance for those players that did not make a 56ers team. She reported that the strength of the tryout process relies on the age commissioners, and as is always the case, some age groups suffered if there was not a strong/knowledgeable age commissioner. On suggestion for next year would be to have the classic coaches be more active in the process on the third day by asking to see specific skills they are looking for. Other Issues: Brenda Schmidt reported that there is a company that would like to take photos of players and teams. An email will be sent to managers to see if there is any interest. A draft of a survey for VASC members is still being worked on. It will likely go out sometime in the Fall or after the end of the Fall season. Next meeting is July 15, 7:00 pm, Stockade Restaurant.
